Persimmon Extract
Diospyros Kaki Fruit Extract
A refined extract from the persimmon fruit. It goes after the aging odor already sitting on the skin. Massaged in, left for 30 seconds, then rinsed away with what it lifted.
Researchers in Japan identified the compound behind aging body odor years before this brand existed, and their papers are public. This page collects that record: the mechanism, the studies it comes from, and every ingredient in the bar listed by its INCI name.

In 1998, Shoji Nakamura, chief perfumer at Shiseido in Japan, identified the compound behind a smell people had been describing for generations without being able to place it. Japanese has a word for it: kareishu. In the lab it comes down to a single molecule, 2-nonenal, and it forms the same way in every body it forms in.
Somewhere around 40, skin starts putting out more of an omega-7 oil called palmitoleic acid.
At the same time, the body’s own antioxidant defenses, the ones that kept that oil stable for four decades, start to slow.
Unprotected oil meets oxygen and goes rancid. What is left behind is 2-nonenal: greasy, waxy and water repellent, which is why regular soap slides right over it.
Washing removes what the reaction produced. It never touches the reaction.

What it looks at: whether washing with a soap that carries plant polyphenols measurably lowers aging odor.

What it looks at: a different route at the same odor. Worth reading for how researchers actually measure it on skin.
None of these studies were run on Sutter and none of them mention it. They are the published record on the odor itself and on the ingredient families the bar is built from, which is why they are linked here in full rather than summarised.
Persimmon extract lifts the odor that has already formed. On its own that is half the job, because tomorrow’s oil is left unprotected and the whole thing starts over the moment you towel off. Green tea extract and vitamin E stay behind after the rinse and work on the oxidation itself, which is the job the body used to do on its own.
The amount is what separates a soap that works for an afternoon from one that does the job.
One bar, 100 g / 3.527 oz. Every component, with the INCI name it is listed under.
Diospyros Kaki Fruit Extract
A refined extract from the persimmon fruit. It goes after the aging odor already sitting on the skin. Massaged in, left for 30 seconds, then rinsed away with what it lifted.
Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract
An antioxidant that works on the oxidation the odor comes from, rather than on the odor itself. It is also what gives the bar its light green tea scent.
Tocopherol
An antioxidant that helps protect the skin’s own oils from turning. It works alongside the green tea extract. On the carton it is listed as tocopherol.
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil
The cleansing side of the bar. It builds the lather, lifts the oily buildup the odor clings to, and carries the residue away in the rinse.
Glycerin, Sorbitol, Shea Butter
Glycerin and shea butter, so a bar used every day does not leave mature skin tight. Olive oil and sorbitol round it out.
Glycerin, Sorbitol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Lauramidopropyl Betaine, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Decenol, Diospyros Kaki Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Oil, Tocopherol, Aqua, Sodium Hydroxide.
Wet the skin and rub the bar to build a lather. Massage it over the skin and leave it on for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
For external use only. Keep away from children. Discontinue use and rinse immediately with clear water if redness or skin irritation occurs. Avoid application on damaged skin. Do not ingest.
Store in a cool, dry place.
Sutter is sold with a 30 day money back guarantee, counted from the day the order arrives. There is no form to fill in and nothing to send back. One email is enough.
A customer’s own account of whether it worked is the only test applied to the request.
Questions about the formula, the studies or the guarantee go to customer care.
